Buckfastleigh, South Devon, is situated on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and is approximately 22 miles from Exeter, 21 miles from Plymouth, 19 miles from Dartmouth and 13 miles from Paignton. Buckfastleigh Railway Station is just off the A38 and located close to the famous Buckfast Abbey.
Spacious catering premises located on the site of the historic South Devon Railway, one of Devon’s best loved tourist attractions with circa 100,000 visitors each year. The café is extremely well equipped with large ancillary areas and benefits from two extensive outside seating areas, one of which is covered. The café was previously operated by the Charity ‘South Devon Railway’ which is now looking to lease the premises to an experience professional operator The site also includes, alongside the historic steam and diesel engines, a museum, workshop and gift & model shop together with extensive free visitor parking. Visitors can also enjoy a riverside walk, picnic area, play area and gardens, with Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterfly Centre adjacent to the station. The seven mile railway track, which was built in 1872, runs alongside the stunning River Dart through beautiful countryside and offers a wonderful all day, all weather attraction for families and people of all ages. The café will be required to operate in tandem with the Railway attraction and trade 10am-5pm whilst the Railway is operational which is 7 days a week between February half term through to October half term and for the month of December. However, the operator is not bound by the trading times and will be free to trade longer hours and throughout the year.
