Brampford Speke is an unspoilt picturesque and atmospheric village with thatched cottages, listed buildings and high garden walls set in a conservation area with the benefit of wonderful nearby walks on the River Exe to Exe Valley Way and the Devonshire Heartland Way. Brampford Speke is situated approximately 4 miles to the North of Exeter and 7 miles East of Crediton. Exeter University is only 10 minutes away with the City Centre 15 minutes drive. Exeter is linked via the M5 Motorway to the rest of the country with excellent rail and air communications too. The beautiful South and East Devon coastlines are within half an hour drive of Brampford Speke as is Dartmoor National Park.
Directions from Exeter:- From the city centre take A377 signposted Crediton. At the Cowley Bridge (mini) roundabout take the first left onto the A377 (marked 'Crediton'). Follow this road for approximately 500 yards. Take the first turning right, marked 'Upton Pyne' and 'Brampford Speke'. If you go past Bernaville Nurseries you have gone too far! Follow this road for about a mile (up a steep hill and along a short straight). At Upton Pyne take the right-hand turn marked 'Brampford Speke', follow this road for 1.5 miles which will take you into the village. The Lazy Toad Inn is at the centre of the village on your left, just after the turning for the church.
