Teignmouth, situated on the South Devon coast with its classic crescent of Georgian buildings, is a real hidden gem. Both an historic port and classic seaside resort, Teignmouth has all the traditional attractions of a coastal holiday destination including the promenade, Victorian pier with rides and amusements together with shops, cafes and restaurants. Teignmouth has a thriving local community which swells considerably during the holiday season with tourists. Torbay is some 9 miles away, with the market town of Newton Abbot 6 miles to the West. The A38 trunk road to Exeter in turn links to the M5 motorway which connects the South West to the rest of the country.
The Yummy Shop is situated on the ‘Triangle’ of Teignmouth alongside cafes, restaurants and a selection of national and independent retail outlets. The Triangle is not only a popular place for tourists and locals to enjoy the local cuisine; it is also host to the monthly Farmers Market and to several music festivals throughout the year. Every September the town also celebrates its unique local produce with the Taste of the Teign Festival - a weeklong event with local restaurants and cafes featuring special menus, demonstrations by producers and a host of other events across the town. The Yummy Shop offers the best of both retail and café worlds. The unit, which has A1 class use, sells a range of locally produced products such as jams, chutneys, honey, teas, fudge and juices alongside pretty shabby chic style gifts. The café element offers a range of simple breakfasts, freshly made sandwiches & toasties, salads, pasties, jacket potatoes and cream teas with Ice Creams being an extremely popular choice. The owners have been able to keep the price point competitive due to the low running costs of the unit. The business is operated by a Husband & Wife team who trade the business as a life style choice to suit themselves with the trading hours being 10am to 4/5pm, 6 days a week, closing Mondays. The owners shorten the trading hours during the off peak season and close for 1 to 2 months of the year.
